SMEs entrepreneurs had with the hostile business environment influenced by many negative factors during last year. However Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) had done its best to help SMEs through many projects.
OSMEP’s operation in 2007 was carried out under six strategies set in the SMEs Promotion Plan 2 (2007 – 2511) approved by the cabinet. Based on the clear strategies, the guidelines on the development and promotion of entrepreneurs on knowledge-based environment can be outlined with the focus on knowledge enhancement infrastructure, further development of innovation and commercialization of research works.
The factor contributed to the successful implementation of the projects is the integration of SMEs promotion plans belong to the public and private sectors and educational institutes i.e. Industrial Sector Development Project, Industry Sector Analysis and Warning for SMEs etc.
Projects in the three southernmost provinces also carried out as well as the organization of 43th ISBC, World Smart SMEs event.
In 2008, OSMEP will continue to promote and develop SMEs entrepreneurs for the GDP growth with the contribution worth at 480 million dollars.
